SUMMARY:Seattle SHRM May Chapter Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Benefits strategies are evolving quickly—and HR leaders are under increasing pressure to ensure their plans remain competitive\, cost-effective\, and aligned with what peer organizations are doing. \nThis session takes a practical\, market-driven approach to both health insurance and 401(k) plan design\, highlighting current industry trends and how employers are adapting their strategies in real time. Attendees will gain clarity on how these changes affect compliance\, fiduciary responsibility\, and overall plan strategy. \nParticipants will leave with a clearer understanding of how their current offerings compare to peers\, along with actionable ideas to refine and elevate their overall benefits strategy. \nLearning Objectives: \nBy attending this session\, participants will be able to: \n\nIdentify current trends in health insurance and 401(k) plan design across industries\n Evaluate how peer organizations are structuring benefits to remain competitive\n Understand key fiduciary considerations under ERISA as they apply to both health and retirement plans\n Apply strategic “levers” within plan design (e.g.\, contributions\, plan features\, ancillary benefits) to improve outcomes\n Interpret key provisions of SECURE 2.0 and their impact on plan sponsors and participants\n Understand expanded compliance and transparency requirements under the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2026 for Health & Welfare plans\n Develop a more integrated and aligned approach to total benefits strategy

SUMMARY:Seattle SHRM June Chapter Meeting
DESCRIPTION:If your leaders asked\, “So what does this data actually mean for the business?” — would you have a clear answer? \nIn today’s environment\, HR is expected to move beyond reporting metrics to demonstrating real business impact. Yet many teams are overwhelmed with data and unclear on where to focus. \nThis session introduces a simple\, practical framework to elevate people analytics through three key lenses: \n\nOutcome Metrics (So What): Attrition\, mobility\, quality of hire\, leadership effectiveness\nDriver Metrics (Why): Manager effectiveness\, skills gaps\, organizational design\, workload\nExperience Metrics (How It Feels): Engagement\, intent to stay\, inclusion\, confidence in leadership\n\nKey takeaway: Outcomes tell you what is happening. Drivers explain why. Experience adds the human context. \nTogether\, these insights help HR influence stronger business decisions and drive meaningful organizational impact. \nYou’ll leave with a practical framework you can immediately apply to connect people data with business outcomes and strengthen your impact as an HR leader. \nLearning Objectives: \nBy attending this session\, participants will be able to: \n\nDifferentiate between outcome\, driver\, and experience metrics\nIdentify workforce metrics that matter most to business leaders\nConnect employee experience insights to business outcomes\nUse data to uncover root causes and drive actionable insights

SUMMARY:Seattle SHRM July Chapter Meeting
DESCRIPTION:HR professionals need to know what they should be measuring — where do you start? \nWhat does their CEO actually want to see?  How do you build it without a data team? This working session closes that gap. \nYou’ll leave with a decision framework for identifying the right metrics based on your CEO’s priorities and your CFO’s existing data — because the business problem should pick the metric\, not the other way around. \nYou’ll get a step-by-step walkthrough of how to set up an AI project that functions as your always-on HR analyst\, including the exact prompts that produce a CEO-ready dashboard\, a workforce risk summary\, and predictive analytics — without a data scientist on staff. It is a part time employee without the compensation and 10x the power. \nLearning Objectives \n\nIdentify business-driven HR metrics by aligning people data with CEO and CFO priorities.\nApply AI tools and effective prompting strategies to enhance HR measurement and analytics.\n\nUtilize existing HRIS data to explore predictive analytics and anticipate workforce trends.

SUMMARY:The HR Lounge: What it means to be a Human-Centered Organization in the Age of AI
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for the next HR Lounge where we will explore what it means to be a Human-Centered Organization in the Age of AI.  \nKylie Kusleika and Ellie Damashek\, executive strategy and learning leads at Gensler Seattle\, will share their latest findings on AI’s impact on HR roles of today and in the future. \nDrawing from recent research on human-centered AI use\, we will explore how AI is reshaping HR practice: where it’s breaking down silos\, surfacing new skill and role gaps\, and how some teams are already rethinking their org structures in response. We will also look ahead at which roles are shifting\, where new ones are emerging\, and what a well-structured HR org and workplace might look like in five years. \nKey Takeaways:  \n\nRedefine what “human-centered” means in practice. Move beyond understanding how AI drives efficiency with daily tasks\, instead focusing on what that efficiency unlocks and enables for humans.\nDiscover the benefits of making AI literacy a core HR capability. Understand AI’s potential to create new value at every level of the organization and what needs to change to operationalize that value.\nGain sharper language\, a useful framework\, and concrete examples to bring back to your own teams.\n\nSpeakers: \nEllie Damashek\, Gensler Strategy  \nEllie is a change strategist and researcher focused on equipping her clients with the right strategic frameworks\, roadmaps\, tools\, communications\, and activations to navigate challenging transitions and the future. She is also Gensler’s Northwest’s inclusion co-leader and brings a multidisciplinary and multicultural lens derived from her background in change management\, consumer trends\, hardware crowdfunding\, and advertising. \nKylie Kusleika\, Gensler Strategy \nKylie is a futures strategist and researcher operating at the intersection of cultural evolution\, emerging technology\, and systemic foresight. She specializes in demystifying complex technical shifts by converting emergent industry signals into actionable learning frameworks for evolving organizations. By bridging the gap between innovation and institutional understanding\, she builds technical literacy that scales from frontline contributors to senior management. This comprehensive approach ensures that leadership development is grounded in systems thinking\, equipping C-suite stakeholders with the technical intelligence required for resilient\, future-ready planning. \nThis event is intended for HR professionals and people leaders.

SUMMARY:Seattle SHRM August Chapter Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Session Summary: \nAn employee’s self-image plays a powerful yet often overlooked role in confidence\, performance\, decision-making\, and overall well-being. In this interactive session\, we’ll explore the psychology behind self-image and the ego\, examine the research connecting these concepts to workplace performance\, and introduce practical tools that HR professionals can use to foster healthier mindsets and more effective employee development within their organizations. \nLearning Objectives:\n\nUnderstand how self-image influences employee confidence\, performance\, resilience\, and career development.\nIdentify three common psychological barriers—conditional self-worth\, the need for validation\, and cognitive biases—that can limit growth and workplace effectiveness.\nApply evidence-based exercises designed to help employees build healthier self-perceptions\, improve self-awareness\, and adopt a more growth-oriented mindset.\nEquip members with practical tools and frameworks they can adapt for coaching\, leadership development\, and employee well-being initiatives within their organizations.\n\nSpeaker Bio:\n Bryton Ostler is a Performance Coach with Apollo Coaching LLC. As a Junior Olympic gymnast at 13 years old\, Bryton was introduced to the world of high performance at an incredibly young age. The pressure to succeed\, fear of failure\, and constant pursuit of proving his worth sparked a lifelong fascination with what drives confidence\, performance\, and well-being. That curiosity eventually became a career.\n\nOver the past decade\, Bryton has immersed himself in the science of performance psychology and helped countless individuals overcome the mental barriers that limit growth. Today\, he combines scientific research with practical strategies to help people perform at their best without tying their worth to their performance.

SUMMARY:Seattle SHRM September Chapter Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Session Summary: \nUsing your voice at work is often a judgment call\, not a communication skill. Sometimes the conversation is clearly yours to lead. Sometimes someone else needs to own it. And sometimes you have to decide whether using your voice is worth the potential fallout—for the relationship\, your credibility\, your influence\, or even your position. \nIn this practical\, story-rich session\, Rebecca P. Murray explores what happens when your voice meets the moment. Participants will learn how to make more intentional choices about when to speak\, how to prepare themselves and others for difficult conversations\, and how to use vocal agency without giving away influence. They’ll also explore how personal brand shows up under pressure—and how to use their influence not only to advocate for themselves\, but to help others be heard. \nExpect candid stories\, humor\, immediately usable language\, and practical tools for the conversations that don’t come with a script. \nLearning Objectives:\n\nNavigate the fallout of speaking up—or staying silent.\nHold your space with clarity\, poise\, and vocal agency.\nUse your influence to amplify others.\n\nSpeaker Bio:\nRebecca P. Murray energizes audiences through the power of voice. As founder of Showcase Your Shine\, she blends humor\, theatrical storytelling\, the social science of language\, and applied behavior science to help professionals speak with purpose\, presence\, and influence. \n\nA lifelong performer with roots in music\, theater\, and improvisation\, Rebecca transforms communication challenges into engaging stories\, memorable characters\, and actionable tools. She’s passionate about strengthening team dynamics through the skills that matter most: listening\, presenting\, facilitating conversations\, and creating Voice Equity\, equal opportunity for contribution. \nHer fascination with voice began early\, singing before she could speak. That passion evolved into a career producing and directing hundreds of audio and video projects\, including audiobooks\, commercials\, and podcasts. Today\, she helps professionals and teams find their authentic voice and expand their influence in meetings\, presentations\, and leadership conversations. \nRebecca is President of the National Speakers Association Northwest and a member of VASTA.
