June Chapter Meeting: Optimizing Benefits Education

Topic: Optimizing Benefits Education – Essential Strategies for HR

Many employees don’t fully understand their benefits or how to use them, and traditional annual enrollment meetings don’t provide the guidance they need. HR professionals can improve engagement and reduce unnecessary costs by rethinking their strategy to communicate health & financial benefits. Join us to explore practical ways to educate a multigenerational workforce, use technology to ease administrative work, and deliver messages that meet employees where they are.

Panelists

Bak Hashimi has over 15 years of experience in the Human Capital Management (HCM) space, working at the intersection of HR and Finance to support organizations through various phases of growth and change. His background includes collaborating with cross-functional teams to align people strategies with business goals, with a focus on systems, processes, and operational effectiveness. He lives in Kirkland, WA with his wife and two daughters. Outside of work, Bak enjoys spending time outdoors, traveling, and hosting family and friends.

With nearly two decades of experience in the Retirement Plan Sector, Paul Murphy has earned a reputation as a trusted advisor and expert in employer-sponsored retirement plans. As an Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF), Paul places his clients’ needs above all else. His consulting approach emphasizes building lasting relationships and providing independent, high-quality guidance. Paul is dedicated to helping HR teams navigate the complexities of retirement plan management while fostering a culture of financial wellness and retirement preparedness among employees, ensuring they are well-prepared for their financial futures. Residing in Seattle with his wife and two children, Paul enjoys skiing, backpacking, hiking, and camping in his free time.

Cameron Connally serves as Assistant Vice President, Employee Benefits at Woodruff Sawyer. He partners with HR leaders to build sustainable benefits programs that serve the interests of both the business and their people. Cameron emphasizes giving control back to employers by cutting waste, ensuring price transparency, and partnering with high-quality providers. His approach helps organizations offer a high standard of healthcare while improving employee access. Cameron lives near Seattle with his wife, two teenage sons, and two corgis who firmly believe they’re in charge.
