Board Leadership Opportunities

An association thrives on the dedication of its volunteers. We invite you to consider taking on a leadership role with Seattle SHRM, enabling us to better serve HR professionals in our community. While board positions may not always be available, we encourage you to stay connected and check back for future opportunities. Below, you’ll find important information outlining the general requirements and expectations for those interested in volunteering for a board position.

At this time, all board positions have been filled for the 2024/2025 term. Please check back for updates and new opportunities as they become available.

Election Process

Our Leadership Selection Committee, consisting of the President and Past President, will review all submitted Candidate Consideration Forms for both current and upcoming board vacancies in the next calendar year. The committee will evaluate submissions at the end of the application period. Candidates will then participate in a recruitment process that includes interviews with the Leadership Selection Committee and other current board members.

Oct 20 - Nov 3: Board Review and Interviews
Nov 4 - Nov 11: Membership Voting Period
November 18: New Board Members Notified

Board Member Commitment

As a board member, your participation is crucial to the success of our chapter. Here are the key commitments expected from all board members:

Chapter Meetings: Attend at least 80% of all Chapter Meetings, which occur on the 3rd Thursday of every month, unless otherwise noted in communications or the calendar of events.
Board Meetings: Attend at least 80% of all Board Meetings, held on the 1st Thursday of every month, unless otherwise noted by the Chapter President.
Role Responsibilities: Each position has a specific description, and responsibilities vary between roles. Please review individual role outlines to understand the specific time commitment and requirements.

Time Commitments

Monthly Meetings: Approximately 2-4 hours per month
Networking Events: Participate in quarterly chapter networking events, averaging 1-4 hours per quarter.
Annual Strategy Meeting: Takes place on a Saturday or Sunday for 6 hours
Contribution to Initiatives: Commit to supporting the mission, board initiatives, and goals specific to your role, averaging 1-4 hours per month.
Additional Support: Provide any additional assistance to the board as needed.
